Teach with Gaia
The perfect educational tool for ages 9 and up.
The higher total wins!
But Gaia is not that simple…
- At the end of the game, players will calculate their score in not just 1, but 5 Regions on Gaia. The player with 3 leads wins!
- To build an effective deck, players must be able to coordinate the strengths of various creatures to work together in harmony.
- Players are encouraged to read and comprehend their creatures’ abilities in order to make the most intelligent plays.
- Players will lead their selected team of creatures in a head to head match up, making strategic moves while countering opposing moves.
- To be the best, players must be able to problem solve and make complex decisions several turns ahead of time in all 5 Regions.
How Gaia Players Get Smarter
Biology and Geography
Every card in The Balance of Gaia is based on a real animal, plant, or environment in nature. Creature cards include their scientific kingdom, class, genus, species name, habitat, size (represented by ‘Eco Value’), biogeographic realm (with a map), diet, and conservation status. Not to mention, every Ability perfectly portrays how each animal exists in nature.
Mathematics
In order to win in Gaia, players must end the game with more Eco Value than their opponent in 3 out of the 5 Regions. So, to be succesful, they must be able to precisely calculate and track multiple scores throughout the game.
Reading Comprehension
Score isn’t everything in The Balance of Gaia. Creatures have Abilities with names and actions that coincide with each creature’s real life characteristics. Abilities have descriptions that, once understood, can be applied to in game strategy.
Creativity and Leadership
Before even starting a game, players must first build a unique deck. They are the leaders of their own individual strategy- they get to creatively assemble their deck and captain it against their opponent.
Critical Thinking
Throughout a game, players must be able to make complex decisions in response to opposing moves, and the order in which they draw their cards. No two games of Gaia are the same, so players must always be finding new ways to win.
Confidence and Humility
Gaia is a game of amazing wins and difficult loses. The lessons learned in competition build character as much as they do knowledge.
